lyrics

The stench. The flies. The ease. Daily we remind ourselves that these chemicals keep the rats at bay. The walls on our cubicles will keep the hate away. Our mothers and fathers wouldn't lie this way. Just make sure nothing grows. Build me. Build me on what you know. Build me, build so large so you can't grow. Don't eat, don't sleep, don't breathe. Don't eat, don't sleep, don't leave. Live in units of measurement and take in only the smallest increments. Live only on excrement and show only the most appropriate excitement. We crave the run and we don't care what it costs. We breed in the shadows and sell all our marrow. Damned to the shadows all we hear is "thank you, thank you". Blamed for the madness all we hear is "thank you, thank you". Say what you want to, darling, I'll have you, have youth. Show me some heart and maybe I'll save you. Show me some heart and maybe we'll break through. Break from the start and maybe still pain through. We're stuffing our mouths in hopes we'll grow hungry, grow something permanent. Stuffing our mouths with lies and love. When we were young we did what we're told. Now that we're old we still do what we're told. When we were young we did what we're told. There's a motion and a howl that hopes we'll grow here, grow fear. Rehearsed, and all the curses banished. The Swamp. We'll live here and do what we're told.
